What’s included in the price

  • Diagnostic. Confirm PCB fault using manufacturer diagnostic tools (Daikin Diagnostics, Mitsubishi M-NET, LG EEPROM reader) before ordering parts.
  • Genuine OEM PCB. Always — aftermarket boards fail within 18 months and void manufacturer warranty.
  • Fitting. Power isolation, board removal, new board fit, terminal reconnection, addressing of any wiring damage.
  • Re-commissioning. Full operational test, run-test on cool and heat, error history cleared, supply-air temp verified.
  • Root-cause fix. If the PCB died because of a blocked drain (moisture ingress) or storm surge, we address the cause so the replacement doesn’t fail the same way. Surge protector ($80) often added at the same visit.
  • 12-month replacement warranty. If the new PCB fails inside 12 months from any cause other than physical damage, we replace it again at no charge.

PCB cost by brand (indoor split, fully fitted)

Brand Starting from (inc GST) Notes
Daikin From $350 Best parts availability (24hr)
Mitsubishi Electric From $370 M-NET diagnostics speeds fit time
Panasonic From $380 Higher in coastal installs (corrosion)
Fujitsu From $360 Lead time 3 days
LG From $380 EEPROM diagnostics tell us what’s about to fail next
Samsung From $420 Lead time often longer (Sydney warehousing)
Hisense / TCL / Carrier From $390 Parts can be slow; replacement often makes more sense

When PCB replacement makes sense (vs full system replacement)

The rule of thumb: if the unit is under 8 years old, replace the PCB. If over 10 years and already had a previous major fault, lean toward a new system. Full decision tree:

  • 0–5 yrs: always repair (likely still in manufacturer warranty)
  • 5–8 yrs: always repair — system has 5+ years life left
  • 8–10 yrs: repair, but plan for replacement within 3 years
  • 10–12 yrs: case-by-case — consider compressor/fan-motor condition
  • 12+ yrs: usually replace; $500–$800 on an old unit rarely pays back

Cheap-job traps to avoid

  • Aftermarket PCBs. Cheap online boards (typically $50–$150) communicate poorly with the matched outdoor unit and fail within 12–18 months. Voids manufacturer warranty.
  • Refurbished PCBs. Some shops fit “tested” used boards. Slightly cheaper but no warranty and unknown remaining life.
  • No diagnostic before order. Some installers just order a PCB based on symptom description and find at fit time it was the capacitor. You’re now stuck with the wrong part. We always diagnose before ordering.
  • No root-cause fix. If the PCB died from blocked drain (moisture) and the drain isn’t cleared, the new PCB dies the same way. Always check + fix the underlying cause.
  • No surge protection. If lightning killed the PCB, replacing without surge protection means another PCB next storm season. Add it.

Common questions

How much does AC PCB board replacement cost in Brisbane?

From $350 fully fitted for an indoor PCB on a standard split system. From $450 for outdoor PCBs. Multi-head and ducted controller PCBs from $550–$650. Commercial quoted on site.

Why does the price vary so much between installers?

Mostly genuine OEM vs aftermarket. A $200 quote is usually using a cheap aftermarket board; a $350+ quote is genuine OEM with proper diagnostic, fitting and commissioning.

How long does it take?

2–5 days for parts (depending on brand). The on-site fit takes 60–90 minutes.

Is the diagnostic visit charged separately?

No — absorbed into the repair cost when you proceed. Standalone diagnostic (if you decide not to repair) from $150.

What warranty comes with the new PCB?

12-month replacement warranty from AH Aircon. Genuine OEM PCBs also carry the manufacturer’s own warranty.

Will you tell me if replacing the unit is smarter than replacing the PCB?

Yes — we lose nothing by recommending replacement when that’s the right call. If your unit is 12+ years old we’ll quote both options so you can choose.

Can I bring my own PCB and just pay for fitting?

We don’t fit customer-supplied PCBs. We can’t warrant a part we haven’t sourced, and 90% of customer-supplied PCBs turn out to be aftermarket or wrong-model.
